I ♥ Eileen Gray

This Christopher Holzeis painting just reminded me of Eileen Gray and her lovely folding screens.

I watched this great documentary on Eileen Gray last week. I love her unstoppable spirit, her practical view of design, the fact that she continued designing well into her 90s and that the Bibendum Armchair was inspired by the Michelan man. If you have a chance to see this movie on Sundance or spot it on netflix I encourage you to see it. She was so influential yet unappreciated. Even if you're not a fan or art deco style, her story and impact on modern design is moving.

I've always loved those photos - the one of Eileen in her 70s, and the shot with the zebra skins and Bibendum chairs. Nice post.
