Silent Clusterfuck (bianca), earbuds & acrylic, 2008.

I'm no where near as in love with music as my boyfriend is. I can gladly sit in silence and stalk the interenets, whereas dead silence bothers him. Sometimes my drive home is talk radio, other times just might thoughts. I think he borders an obsession with sound. What I am loving right now is Jennie's works based on listening, music and concepts of audio.

house on the brain

ryan dodgson, one of my favorite illustrators

I'm house hunting yet again. We haven't found the right nest and I'm getting antsy. We have 1 month left until we have to leave the little box. After the great flood we were in a search frenzy, but we put those plans on hold after a few things happened. Now it's on and I'm not excited about it. Me and the misters both want a lot for our money but have yet to find something that titillates and satisfies our needs. I just want to send this shot to a Realtor:

where does your heart lay?

Joseph Cornell's The Heart on the Sleeve

According to google, "People who wear their heart on their sleeve express their emotions freely and openly, for all to see. Those who wear their heart on their sleeve do not hold back their emotions, for good or for bad. It is clear how they feel in each moment."

You're pretty spot on here google, (for once). I am sensitive, a romantic and very emotional at times. Adversely, If you're a piece of crap to me, particularly a passive aggressive one- I'll let you know it. I will openly fawn over and profess my love, or give you a back the fuck up look and sass. I held back on releasing some fury on someone today... but my sleeve was pounding.

crooked stile

[1266691188-hdm-vitra-10-01-3754-528x352.jpg]
There was a crooked man
There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile.
He had a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

I'd totally shack up with that crooked man, and his crooked mice if he called this place home.

superstitions

[Picture+8.png]
I love Brea Souder's series based on superstitions: Time Between
artist statement:
I’m interested in the way superstitions reflect the human urge for story telling and our need for control in an uncertain world. They act as portals to a childhood sensibility, and can transform an ordinary scene into a mysterious tableau, rich with new meaning.

Dying.

Dying.
Dying is an art,
like everything else.
I do it exceptionally well.
I do it so it feels like hell.
I do it so it feels real.
I guess you could say I've a call.

Sylvia Plath

Bad speech habit #3
Obnoxiously saying "I'm dying" at every single small animal and/or highly sought after accessory.
Example:

"Omfg, I'm dying, dying!"
&

"I'm dying for that glove clutch."

ringl+pit

[f_ringlpit17739.jpg]
Ellen Auerbach and Grete Stern met in 1929 while they were studying photography with Walter Peterhans, the first photography professor at the Bauhaus school in Germany. Together, they sought to challenge the expectations of their class, culture, and gender, establishing an advertising photography studio during the fragile political climate of the Weimar Republic. The name of the studio was derived from their respective childhood nicknames, ringl (Grete) and pit (Ellen).Pioneers in their field, Auerbach and Stern embraced the spirit of social liberation, economic upheaval, and mass media, becoming recognized for the subtle subversion of conventional depictions of women in advertising. International prizes followed quickly on the heels of their financial success. However, their collaboration was cut short when the Nazis rose to power, forcing the two friends to flee Germany — Grete to England and Ellen to Palestine. The circumstances of the war separated them for ten years. Ellen Auerbach traveled extensively, settling in New York City and continuing her artistic career. Grete Stern made Buenos Aires her new home and became one of the most influential figures in photography in Argentina. Auerbach and Stern remained lifelong friends.
