All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril.

We unfortunately, can't all be Sarah Applebaum.

Incorporating varied materials, from found crocheted blankets to geometric constructions, Sarah Applebaum weaves together a world both familiar and strange. Landscapes are peopled by conjoined yetis, shamanistic hunters, unicorns and geometric crocheted "bots". Her work takes you into an enveloping and tactile strangeness and keeps you company along the way.

Nick Can Woert: Sugar Free, 2010
Plaster bust, sugar free gum,7 x 6 x 11 inches

Jenny Kendler "Sibling Rivalry (Love Bites)"2009

This is how we sleep.
If you're not going to sleep, then I suggest browsing Jenny's amazing work and resources.

Jenny Kendler's work revolves around human beings' relationship with the natural world --- focusing on human sexuality and gender as it relates to our often denied animal origins, and environmental issues such as habitat loss, climate change, and the complexity of ecosystems.
All profits from the sale of her works are donated to environmental charities.

We'll see what ensues.
