Good Magazine: foods that might make you sick

I'd like fault the threat of poisoning by leafy green for my decision to binge at burgerking today.
But, in reality, last night's rush to the vet after Parker suffered what appears to be a mild seizure is partly to cause for my insatiable onion ring craving.
I usually gravitate to the fatty foods when under stress. Thankfully the baby is doing alright-- poor thing apparently has *low blood sugar.
*Note to self: Don't sympathy eat for her.

85°F with a 0% chance of Fall

I recently picked up the fall issue Martha, as I do every year and I've came to the realization that I really shouldn't . It's still hot as hell here in Miami and we're no where near autumn. I have bookmarked pumpkin recipes, autumn inspired decor (like those pumpkin & squash mushrooms), and Halloween costumes. It's all a little depressing when it's 85°F with 76% humidity. What is it about fall that is so amazing? It's one of the only things I cherished about living in Boston. Miami is the murderer of seasons- all we know of four seasons is: hot, really fucking hot, still sorta hot and slightly bearable.
I absolutely love these dapper wool clad bird folk. This is so far from my current world that I might as well grow feathers.

muse me

I love this photograph and Lauren Schad dress from l'étoile magazine. I so desperately want to lay around in beautiful clothes with the sole purpose of being my lover's muse.

"Ben Olson and Emma Berg live in a shadowbox. Furnishings are scarce, but the rooms overflow with art. As the sole subjects of Olson’s paintings, the couple knows how it feels to be on display...Olson and Berg embody the dynamic relationship between an artist and his muse."

good article

Todd Forsgren; Columbina passerina - Common Ground-dove, 2009

"There is a saying, attributed to the painter Barnett Newman, that “aesthetics is for art what ornithology is for the birds.” This quip sums up the divide between those who make art and those who think about art. Neither birds nor artists need their academic counterparts to do what they do..."

Dear fellow interneters,
I love you for keeping me amused between my 8:30-5:30's.
Thanks for holding down the sanity,

daily aphorism

"I have to get out of bed everyday to make something happen."

Mike Leigh
Believer Magazine

I had been feeling slightly anxious and spiraling out of control-ish lately. It's not only effected my work performance but I've noticed I decline creatively and on the blog. I'm not one to air out my dirty laundry and I tend to be a bit private. For the past couple days all I've wanted to do was lie in bed with the dog and close myself off. I am very pleased to be normalizing and more centered today. I'm sure the wine soaked pow-wow with my parents last night has a lot to do with it. Aphorisms paired with a slight kick in the pants can be very inspiring. Thankfully it's Friday and I can shake off this shitter week.

nice find: acne paper

After my amazingly relaxing weekend "staycation"at the Standard my skin is looking great, my mind is at ease and my reader is packed to the brim. I can't wait to catch up with all your posts. I happily came across Acne Paper magazine while sitting pool side yesterday and have a new editorial treasure. I am really wishing I took the last issue home with me (and had the time to read it).
Oh and thanks for all the birthday messages my lovely blog pals!

apartamento

Not that I need to love another magazine that I don't have time to read but I'm eager to check out Apartamento-an everyday life interiors magazine recommended by my friend Tiffany. She just shared her interior space for me melodia and I trust her eye. Based on these shots I'm sure the mag is insightful with an interesting perspective on real life design.
