a perfect future

A little mid afternoon optimism.

I'm really trying to be less cynical and sarcastic during the work week. I will harness the power of rainbows and white whales.

I love this Chris Kuzma piece and it's title.

I'm really digging watercolor work lately.

hungry?

Good photography can make or break a collection. This slurpy octopus sitting on a plate next to those creamy pearls is stunning. Ever since my brief stint as a manager for a small art jewelry and artisan craft gallery Laura Preshong, I've had a strong appeal for creative jewelry. Sebastian Buescher's work stands out in originality and branding.

fabric & leather lust

"Our lives are now mediated through the aesthetics of consumerism, through images so commanding that we imitate their inanimacy and deadness, which have become crucial components of the glamorous woman's stylishness, her photographic remoteness and serenity."-Daniel Harris
There isn't much I wouldn't do to have both of these pieces in my possession.
Even after reading Cute, Quaint, Hungry, and Romantic: The Aesthetics of Consumerism by Daniel Harris I am still a fully addicted consumer. This Isabel Toledo dress and Louboutin's Dillian heels make my head spin. If I were getting married anytime soon I'd certainly chose these two pieces to wear. Unfortunately, I have nothing looming in the distance worth ever shelling out thousands of dollars on these gorgeous bits for.

PYT

I love these shots of my P.Y.T. in the 80s showing off his MJ appreciation. I wish he still owned that vintage painters cap or Michael action figure. Although I'm still bummed out about what happened I've truly been enjoying the music video rotations and MJ radio play.

Dear fellow interneters,
I love you for keeping me amused between my 8:30-5:30's.
Thanks for holding down the sanity,

who wants to move in with me?

Tequila Sunrise by Hannah Havana

flat pets

These deliciously furless cardboard mascots by Chris Ratcliffe and Garudio Studiage border that absolutely useless/necessary realm. Yep, that means I want one.
I was instantly reminded of that SATC episode where Charlotte was given a flat baby. I'd spit in someone's face if I was handed a carboard infant but a cardboard kitty would be highly welcomed.

faves

Oysters and cocktails are among my favorite things to consume.
Hennie Haworth does them tasty justice.
Is it horrible to be fantasizing about happy hour at 11am?

my new photo crush

I hope you enjoy Abigail McKenzie's watercolor unmentionables as much as I do this hump day. I hate to admit it but I'm a tad boring in the undergarment department. These sexy bits have inspired me to browse etsy for cute, frilly, foreplay inducers.

water receding

Fortunately things are drying up. It doesn't look like I'll need a swim cap for my ride home.
But, I can still bust my gut over Javier Piñon's flood collages.

Inappropriate for m-f wear?

underwater

I love that I stumbled upon Melissa Furness and her Baths Series today. I really like her playful abstract style. Her paintings have so much life in them. I hope my day doesn't end up looking like these scenes though.
I'm concerned my apartment will be underwater this evening. Anyone who's ever lived on South Beach knows it gets completely submerged when heavy rains come. A few weeks ago we were knee deep in stank sewer water and I was stuck in bridge traffic for several hours due to the flooding. I picture myself swimming home with a crowd of 9-5ers. Check out our soggy forecast:

Pinned

balloons, inflatable kiddie pool, helium;2009
This Adam Parker Smith piece pretty much sums up my stifled spirit right now. I'm back from my short yet sweet weekend Bahama cruise family get away. It was cute but very over the top in cruise ship cliche. I really shouldn't complain because I had a nice time with my fam and bf. What is worth complaining about is the fact that I had to come into work today straight from the port. I feel totally pinned down and depressed to be sitting in this fluorescent lighting when 24 hours ago I was floating on an inflatable raft sipping piña coladas.
The fun has been officially corralled.

A book shelf like the one at O.H.W.O.W. my favorite creative space in Miami.
