Biomorphically Baroque

Adam Wallacavage's “Biomorphically Baroque", extravagant light fixtures make my eyeballs scream. I can't pick a favorite. They're absurdly beautiful, playful and slightly haunting. These gorgeous tentacle lights and sconces would look great even in the most most modernist non rococo setting.

Parker's business box

Josh Keyes; Drink
By way of convenience, sanitation and sheer laziness my bf built our Chi a balcony bathroom. Arguing over who would take her down to do business before bedtime and feet cleaning duties was getting old. On top of the fact that south beach is absolutely filthy and parasitic, she was attacked earlier this year by a rogue mutt. This super simple box has made all of our lives better. I recently stumbled upon a brand Doggy Duty that sells the same concept for urban dog owners except you can pick theirs up for a whopping $225! Ours in total, cost less than 40 bucks and it was made with love.
Here she is depositing her first pee. She acclimated quickly and now just does her stuff on command.
The box just requires some simple maintenance and grass up keep.
We need to remove the doo immediately (ofcourse) and water the freshly peed grass to prevent burning.

my preoccupations copulate

My two obsessions just met and had baby:

This bicycle house piece is the embodiment of everything on my mind lately.

Apt hunting in Midtown:
This highrise unit took my breath away on Wednesday.& my new bike friend:I came home to this stunning white horse waiting for me in my living room.
I couldn't be happier with it, Thanks Keirincycles.

Parker seems to dig it to.

must see: Earthlings

What else could be a perfect follow up to the heart shaped salami than this grotesque displays of human consumption and slaughtering?
Sunaura Taylor; Chicken Truck, oil on canvas 2008
Sue Coe; Slaughterhouse Trenton, 2006,Oil on canvas

On recommendation by a friend I've been watching Earthlings at my desk. I haven't even finished it because there is so much wincing and pausing involved that by the 35 minute mark it's been an eternity. I'm not going to stand on a soap box and make grand declarations but I suggest see it, if you haven't already.

You can watch the full film here.
EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity's absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called "non-human providers." The film is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby.

I've been a bit too preoccupied with apartment hunting to internets browse. I'm not very concerned though, my priority right now is finding a space made out of bread and covered in cakes.

85°F with a 0% chance of Fall

I recently picked up the fall issue Martha, as I do every year and I've came to the realization that I really shouldn't . It's still hot as hell here in Miami and we're no where near autumn. I have bookmarked pumpkin recipes, autumn inspired decor (like those pumpkin & squash mushrooms), and Halloween costumes. It's all a little depressing when it's 85°F with 76% humidity. What is it about fall that is so amazing? It's one of the only things I cherished about living in Boston. Miami is the murderer of seasons- all we know of four seasons is: hot, really fucking hot, still sorta hot and slightly bearable.
I absolutely love these dapper wool clad bird folk. This is so far from my current world that I might as well grow feathers.

I blame the taupe.

Why else would an immaculate, encapsulated typewriter collection, taxidermy and crown molding not make sense?

must read: The Road

I just finished reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road and I'm totally shook. I ripped through this story in less than a week. It's definitely a must read. I've never been one for post apocalyptic tales but the gloom&doom sitting over slivers of hope was consuming. I can't wait to see the film next month.
All morning I've come across work that reminds me of scenes imagined in the novel.

Everyone has an animal counterpart. I happen to think I resemble a Koala. With my semi constant yawning and bouts of 9-5 narcolepsy I seem to act like one too.
What's your animal resemblance?
