inspiration: Gala Dali

I am absolutely fascinated by this woman.
I want to be the Gala to my hubby's Dali (minus the extra marital affairs). I have been searching for a biography on her with no luck.

I want to be the Gala to my hubby's Dali (minus the extra marital affairs). I have been searching for a biography on her with no luck.

"She was a muse for DalÃ, who said that she was the one who saved him from madness and an early death. Salvador Dali stated it was Gala who acted as his ruthless agent, the interface between the genius and the real world. She aided in redirecting his focus. Many of the works he is now famous for, were created with Gala as his muse."
"Dali's love for Gala, a woman 10 years older than him, exploded; he realized numerous extravagancies to capture her attention; such as waxing his armpit and dying it blue, applying goat excrements upon himself and wearing a red geranium on his head. His emotion was such, that every time he tried to talk to her, he suffered uncontrollable laughing attacks.
During a stroll in Cabo de Creus, Dali fell on his knees laughing, he declared his love for her, and holding his hand Gala said "... my boy, let us never to be separated..."

Learning that my friend is planning a trip to Reykjavik and looking at these photographs by Morten Spaberg has given me the incredible urge to get out of here.

This is one of my favorite family photos ever.

I came across this vintage photograph of my almost father-in-law (not the one holding the beaver) recently and I've been obsessing over it ever since. It's absolutely perfect. Instead of just framing it I think I want to have it commisioned painted like FEB 59:

I think these airy and crisp oil paintings by Phillis Berman would be perfect for a nursery. These scream imagination yet are very peaceful.
MAD Dinner

YAY!
I just won MAD Dinner, the first book by Beijing architects MAD through my favorite design forum Dezeen!

Here is a summery from MAD:Organized around the metaphor of dinner table conversation, the book is a collection of ideas and opinions about topics ranging from politics to ecology to fame to the future. The dinner’s “guests” include people from all levels of Chinese society: a government official, hairdresser, migrant labourers, a doctor, a taxi driver, and a developer are all brought together to offer their views in an atmosphere of openness and exchange....A semi-journalistic approach has been employed to deliver serious contents in an accessible way and reconnect architecture to its fundamental concern – human lives. Anyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I am very competitive and obsessed with winning things. Hence my love for the game BINGO!

I love: birds in beards

I occasionally joke with my small beardy man that he has birds in his facial hair. I think I'd really love it if it was true.
