ladies night

This vintage photo from excerpts from the annals of everyday life reminds me of the much needed gossip fest/housewives:nj/dog party ladies' night I had yesterday.

reform school

I just "treated" myself and bought a tiny little something from one of my favorite online shops: reform school. Treated is in quotations because what I picked up isn't fancy or unnecessary- I actually bought something that resolves a problem. I suffer from grossed out by dusty night stand water-itis. It's a major disease. I, like most ppl get thirsty at night but thinking of sipping on stale water gives me the willies so here's the solution:

Recycled Glass Night Set$22.00

Made from recycled glass.
A perfect bedside companion.
carafe is 9 1/2"H

I absolutely love the Reform School site and I just wanted to share with you how pleased I've been with past purchases. I also just love the high school theme. How sweet are these little bored in class doodles?

urban grave

I love spotting animal traces like bird steps or kitten paws left on wet sidewalks. This deep frog corpse crater found in Brooklyn totally takes the cake though. I must go visit him.
"At some point when the sidewalk was being set on a corner in Greenpoint, a poor city amphibian flipped over and ended its life. [Note: it doesn't look like it has a head because the neck was arched back and created an over hang in between the arms.]"

I ♥ Eileen Gray

This Christopher Holzeis painting just reminded me of Eileen Gray and her lovely folding screens.

I watched this great documentary on Eileen Gray last week. I love her unstoppable spirit, her practical view of design, the fact that she continued designing well into her 90s and that the Bibendum Armchair was inspired by the Michelan man. If you have a chance to see this movie on Sundance or spot it on netflix I encourage you to see it. She was so influential yet unappreciated. Even if you're not a fan or art deco style, her story and impact on modern design is moving.
