One Of America's Great Field Biologists Thinks About Burial

Adorable digging beetles, celebratory dancing over deceased, human compost folk song, frozen flesh sprinkles showering the earth-- this story has it all.

It's been 1 week since I heard this story on NPR and it's still on my mind. You can read the transcript here, but I really suggest listening to the full story. Pete Seeger's "In Dead Earnest" song is too good for words.

I have a few thoughts swirling around my empty little head lately that I'd rather expel. I have been counting calories as of late and not in a good way. My best friend is getting married in less than a month and I'm walking down the isle in a super fitted sexy cocktail dress. I'm not one of those, Rawr! I love my curves kind of bitches so, rather than jiggling up a storm I'm cutting back. What bothers me is that it takes an event where 100+ people will see me for 1 minute walking a straight line in order for me to de-chunk. I wish I was health conscience and not just bulge conscience.
Emily Winton, Oven, 2007 from dispositions series

I've had this image collecting dust in my hard drive for a bit. After satisfying my Rufus craving this morning with Cigarettes & Chocolate Milk I felt they paired perfectly.

This is still one of my all time favorite songs.

these might as well be my shoes

Antonio Gonzales Paucar, Zapatos que Rompen el Silencio (Shoes that Break the Silence) ; made out of dead flies, nylon thread, and shoes

I apparently suffer from bromhidrosis, aka toe b.o.
It's an issue especially with these haggard black flats I wear to work almost daily. My shoes definitely break the silence and a few health codes.

oral rims

In response to Wool& Misc's Rick Owens post and Michele Lamy discovery.

Michele's "gold & diamond encrusted teef" have been on my mind all day.

Lauren Kalman's gold Oral Rims from the hard wear series
This pearl grill is ridiculously lux and should only be worn for extra fancy occasions. Lauren Kalman;Hard Wear (Pearls), 2006
This is my kind of streetwear.

still thinking

I would happily dress up as anyone of these lovely headed ladies:

sketches from Kiersten's blog You Fail
I adore these works and her site.

Jan Von Holleben

The Ghostbusters, 2006; c-print

I've dressed up as a ghostbuster at least 3 times in my life. It's the easiest costume and a fun character to stay in. This year I'm torn between a few ideas.

I think being a Jan Von Holleben scene would make a great costume. That way all you have to do is lay there and have the party come to you.

Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.
