bunny love print

“Bunny Love”; 18″ x 24″ seven color screenprint,edition of 55;Lucky Bunny $75.
I'm impressed with the watercolor effect they achieved. I've never seen a 7 color silkscreen print look so light and effortless. This would be great for a baby's room.

I'm loving these 1970's stripper tryout polaroids. These ladies are so classy by today's standards. Check out the oh so lux decor...shag rug, cinder block table and zebra print wallpaper.

exciting folk art

Sometimes I truly surprise myself in what I find intriguing.  I've never been interested in folk art or craft but lately I've noticed a slight interest in folksy decorative pieces.
I recently came across the work of Joanna Blitch. She works in several medias but I'm really digging her stoneware mask pots. This fox mask might pair nicely with some of my other animal art.
Nothing gets more folk and Americana-ish than wolf imagery. This hand carved hemlock wood mask by  Jason Tennant  has a great presence.
Although the wolf mask is totally badass-these hand carved black crows are way more my style and practical.  I think these birds would look great displayed on high ceilings.
And lastly I'm absolutely in love with this modern take on folky plate paintings by Barret Stanley, Joanna Blitch's husband.  Theses glazed stoneware plates are so subtle and would compliment my present collection without taking it in some weird crafty direction.  I'm very tempted to pick up "temp" and portrait of "Jacques Cousteau".

Yes!: creative dog grooming

I seriously love those wtf?!? moments when you come across something bordering the brink of crazy and awesome. My dear friend Ferris just sent me a link to creative dog grooming and my heart began to race a little bit. How absurd and wonderful are these images? I really wish there were more professional photographs and backgrounds on the dogs and obsessed owners. There has to be a photographer out there who has explored this competative creative dog grooming world. Lets not forget every idea ever has already been thougth of.
If this animal painting world amuses you then check out "why paint cats."

zippers

This spring 2009 Versace dress with it's awesome zipper detail reminded me of this really intricate textile jewelry I came across a while ago.

After some quick etsy scouring I finally found Kate Cusack and said zipper jewelry. Her work looks great and would be a wonderful statement piece for that right outfit. These handmade accents are slightly pricey but they'd surely be forever pieces worth splurging on for that wow factor.

"this lane is our lane"

To say that my friends and now recently my bf have a bike obsession is an understatement.
Ben's new mercier kilo tt
Bikes and bike accessories have been a constant conversation topic in my household lately. I try to not be an old lady about speed and safety but needless to say I get slightly worried that something might happen to my lawn gnome of a boyfriend.
I absolutely LOVE this "sharrow" sweater project by Lisa of The little red blog of revolutionary knitting. After getting in a minor biking accident she had the brilliant idea to create this wearable lane sharing signage. This sweater is still being completed but I couldn't resist reposting. If you haven't checked out TLRBORK yet I recommend you do. She makes some pretty amazing knitted frocks and patterns like this Sara Palin inspired "cunty first" outfit:
I can't wait to see how the fiinished sharrow sweater comes out. I think my bf would not be impressed if i made him a diy bike safety outfit to match his fancy new ride.

flipping cute: mini modern

These recent tiny interiors by Mini Modern are so sweet.

craigslist finds: Eames inspired

white on white vintage Eames style "plycraft" chair $300
Vintage Singer & Company Eames era ottoman and storage unit $45
Both of these finds are pretty affordable and would make great project pieces. I one day plan to take a stab at reupholstering. (Although I have to admit sometimes those super crafty before and after pics do annoy me.)

super flowers

Check out this intensive labor photo series by Steve Aishman (one of my former Smfa professors) titled Super Flowers. In an effort to grow an entire bouquet of flowers on one stem, he has grafted different species of flowers together onto one rootstock.super rosesuper poinsettia super cala
Here's a video explaining the grafting and shooting process:
