stag beetle riding boyfriend

I was pleasantly surprised when this bucking beetle elf duo became house guests yesterday.

I had been eying this vintage Japanese figuring at my favorite antique mall for a while now and my bf unexpectedly bought it for me. I had a major case of FML yesterday but it all went away when I spotted these guys waiting for me in the built in. Now, let me explain that I'm not normally one to flip over tchotchkes but seeing that I think my boyfriend is half gnome it was natural that I felt an affinity to this piece.
My case in point:

I whipped this up a few years ago to show him how I see him.

Now he's a little tougher by learning to ride beetles and growing a mustache:

Heart Rhythm Disturbances

Heart Receipt via FOUND magazine

This bag is giving me palpitations:

How can I get my paws on it!?

This Velvet Leaf piece has caused a slightheart murmur:

nudes not prudes

I'm not sure If I've mentioned it here before but I grew up in one of those free naked houses. Not only were we not uptight about nudity and sexual conversation but my parents also decorated their home with naked lady art. Every where you turned there was bare flesh and boobies in paintings or sculpture form. Hell, they even had a few peen art pieces. Here is 6 year old me posing with "Angelica" their prized nuddy:
I'm not too sure if I'll ever pick up their aesthetic taste for bare skin but I think these exhibitionist pieces are pretty amusing:

inspiration: entrepreneurship

As I sit here at my desk this morning I am fantasizing for the day I can be my own boss. This whole reporting to "the man" nonsense is wearing thin. I was flipping through some old photo albums at my folk's house last week and came across tons of shots that left an impression on me. Seeing taught happy faces and disco clad parents was enjoyable but what really stood out to me were all the shots of them working. They have always been entrepreneurial and self driven. At some point in their early careers they both decided, "Fuck this, I'm working for myself!" and opened independent businesses.
These 3 photos (although not flattering) show my dad in a few of his successful business ventures:
Young Freddy as a personal accountant and notary publicA stoic CPA Freddy
And a much happier Travel Agency owner .
These push me one step further to actually quit bitching and start following my passion.
