zippers

This spring 2009 Versace dress with it's awesome zipper detail reminded me of this really intricate textile jewelry I came across a while ago.

After some quick etsy scouring I finally found Kate Cusack and said zipper jewelry. Her work looks great and would be a wonderful statement piece for that right outfit. These handmade accents are slightly pricey but they'd surely be forever pieces worth splurging on for that wow factor.

ABMB wind down

So it's a wrap for this years Basel and I am exhausted. There's no way to catch every show but I did manage to see a lot. Here are just a few pieces that I saw that I wish I'd taken home with me.
"treading water"; Deborah Van Hauten, oil on linen"intermate"; Tom Sachs, photo etching
"hermetic bird 1"; Patrick Haines, bronze and found object

delicate

When things are hectic I tend to gravitate towards subtly.
These amazingly intricate paper cutouts by Cuban artist Elsita (Elsa Mora) are awe inspiring and peaceful. I cant say enough positive things about her work. I'll let these images speak for themselves.

Below are a couple of images of hand carved eggshells by craftsman Gary LeMaster:
I can't even begin to fathom how difficult something like this is to accomplish.
