Silent Clusterfuck (bianca), earbuds & acrylic, 2008.

I'm no where near as in love with music as my boyfriend is. I can gladly sit in silence and stalk the interenets, whereas dead silence bothers him. Sometimes my drive home is talk radio, other times just might thoughts. I think he borders an obsession with sound. What I am loving right now is Jennie's works based on listening, music and concepts of audio.

trumpet wah wah

gullible gul·li·ble
–adjective
easily deceived or cheated.

credulous, trusting, naive, innocent, simple, green.

[see figure:
]

I was just duped big time.
My boyfriend just fed me a total crock of shit and I ate it gleefully. I never thought I was that gullible. We briefly paused on a Willie Nelson concert from PBS this evening. After admiring Willie's beautifully beaten up guitar, the bf doesn't skip a beat and begins telling me a story of how he met Mr. Nelson, and carved his initials into Willie's guitar. This was immediately followed by a "What? Really? I can't believe he'd let you sign it" (as I'm shocked yet excited to collect a cool random factoid to share with someone). He leads me on a bit, then waits until the camera focuses into a shot of said initials. Boom, the spotting of the B.C. engraving was met with high pitch squeals and even an ohmygod.

Turns out it was all a sham, I'm a big gullible baby and I need to not listen to a word my mister says.

free money

[PattySmith.jpg]

Every night before I rest my head

See those dollar bills go swirling 'round my bed.
I know they're stolen, but I don't feel bad.
I take that money, buy you things you never had.

Oh, baby, it would mean so much to me,
Oh, baby, to buy you all the things you need for free.
I'll buy you a jet plane, baby,
Get you on a higher plane to a jet stream
And take you through the stratosphere
And check out the planets there and then take you down
Deep where it's hot, hot in Arabia, babia, then cool, cold fields of snow
And we'll roll, dream, roll, dream, roll, roll, dream, dream.
When we dream it, when we dream it, when we dream it,
We'll dream it, dream it for free, free money,
Free money, free money, free money, free money, free money, free money.

104 target

I have a few thoughts swirling around my empty little head lately that I'd rather expel. I have been counting calories as of late and not in a good way. My best friend is getting married in less than a month and I'm walking down the isle in a super fitted sexy cocktail dress. I'm not one of those, Rawr! I love my curves kind of bitches so, rather than jiggling up a storm I'm cutting back. What bothers me is that it takes an event where 100+ people will see me for 1 minute walking a straight line in order for me to de-chunk. I wish I was health conscience and not just bulge conscience.
Emily Winton, Oven, 2007 from dispositions series

I've had this image collecting dust in my hard drive for a bit. After satisfying my Rufus craving this morning with Cigarettes & Chocolate Milk I felt they paired perfectly.

This is still one of my all time favorite songs.

one of those mornings

didn't wake up early enough to wash my hair
wearing the same beat outfit I do every Thursday
coffee came out bitter
I got pulled over for taking a yellowRED
WTF, actually laughed out loud at today's Onion calendar page?

On mornings like this I just listen to Yeasayer's Tightrope on repeat:

Biomorphically Baroque

Adam Wallacavage's “Biomorphically Baroque", extravagant light fixtures make my eyeballs scream. I can't pick a favorite. They're absurdly beautiful, playful and slightly haunting. These gorgeous tentacle lights and sconces would look great even in the most most modernist non rococo setting.

These illuminating creatures belong in Serge Gainsbourg's L'hƓtel particulier:

thoughts that accompany Monday

8:50am
Ugh. What am I doing here? I should be back in bed.

1:45pm
Wtf. I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that.

3:30 pm
YAWN. Can I die from boredom? Is it five yet??

little boxes

The teensie apartment flooded over the weekend.
Like really really flooded, with busted pipe sewer water. Not too much was destroyed- just a few special things got water damaged. Flooding is traumatizing. We have to move now. I'm not thrilled about this but I look forward to decorating a new space kinda.
Now we have to search for a new dry little box to make our own.

the one that got away

Went thrifting yesterday with my bestie and had great/devastating time. I was unsuccessful in bringing home the one treasure my heart fell in love with. I'm giving it an other go ahead today and meeting up with my mom for some antiquing. Hopefully today will be rewarding and I'll acquire an other piece for our growing collection. Paul Wackers;collector's cabinet
acrylic, spray paint on panel,36" x 40", 2009
Domenico Remps; Cabinet of Curiosities
Oil on canvas;1690s
We stumbled upon some pretty good finds yesterday but I was devastated when this one thrift store wouldn't sell me a vintage toddler's dress form. This deliciously patina-ed moldy linen boy was screaming to take him home. He'd fit so wonderfully with in my animal decor and other vintage treasures. I had a feeling they'd deny the sale by claiming he was a display (even though he was "head and shoulders" above the plastic mannequins). I carried him around the store calling him My Son the brief time we shared together. In my mind he was this beautiful Victorian boy to the right:
Even though I did acknowledge that he was a shoe in for a NIN video prop I fell in love with him. I have to quit getting so attached to inanimate objects.

a little Moz in the morning

I woke up with Cemetry Gates by the Smiths in my head today. I listened to it 3 times on the way to work. A little Morrissey can brighten up any Wednesday.
