241.4016 km

We've got a big bike weekend planned, full of cheering, camping and schlepping around stuff. I'll be rooting for my boyfriend and his team's 150 mile charity ride for the National MS Society. Ben's ridding down to the Florida keys in 2 days, in honor of his Aunt Katie. If you'd like to support and donate to the cause visit here.

creative bike adornment

I'm so excited to be working together on a project with Tiffany of Heist and bridesmaid knuckle ring fame. We're working in tandem on a little surprise for my bike. Her indelible trampstamp must be concealed. Combining my creative direction, Tiff's skills with bronze, Harcourt Bindery in Boston, and the awesomeness that is Ovis aries orientalis it's sure to be amazing!
I can't wait to see how it develops.

dillo v bike

Would you rather own a gorgeous bike like this Bilenky Track bike:
or
an impeccable 9 banded armadillo from evolution store?
I'm being good and all my coins will be saved towards creating a pretty bike friend.
If the armadillo burned calories I'd be all over him.

bicycle portraits

Yesterday I had a minor bike incident with a pedestrian ( i swear it wasn't my fault). When I came home I was browsing the webs for an image that resembled my little crash and I stumbled upon the great work of Taliah Lempert . She is apparently the go-to for custom bicycle portraiture. I think a bespoke bike painting would be the most considerate/appreciated gift for a bicycle enthusiast. Where as I'm obviously more inclined for a pet painting I know many kids who treat their bikes like babies.

and just 'cause it's earth day

Here's a secret: My family used to be Quadracycle people. Yea, really.
Ours was like this except 70's burnt orange & camel brown.
It was beyond cool when I was little, kinda fun in middle school then slightly embarrassing to see my dad ridding it alone while in high school.
Unfortunately my parents sold it while I was in college. I miss you weird 4 wheel bike; I wish I could ride you now.

mini obsession: new bike

I absolutely love this image above.
The only thing I'd add would be my new F-Troupe saddle shoes

and my rackkandruin quartz necklace.

Oh and USPS please bring my goodies soon, thanks.

bike beard!?!

A contestant shows off his beard in the shape of a bicycle in the southern German town of Brigachtal, ahead of the upcoming international beard championships on 28 March.

"this lane is our lane"

To say that my friends and now recently my bf have a bike obsession is an understatement.
Ben's new mercier kilo tt
Bikes and bike accessories have been a constant conversation topic in my household lately. I try to not be an old lady about speed and safety but needless to say I get slightly worried that something might happen to my lawn gnome of a boyfriend.
I absolutely LOVE this "sharrow" sweater project by Lisa of The little red blog of revolutionary knitting. After getting in a minor biking accident she had the brilliant idea to create this wearable lane sharing signage. This sweater is still being completed but I couldn't resist reposting. If you haven't checked out TLRBORK yet I recommend you do. She makes some pretty amazing knitted frocks and patterns like this Sara Palin inspired "cunty first" outfit:
I can't wait to see how the fiinished sharrow sweater comes out. I think my bf would not be impressed if i made him a diy bike safety outfit to match his fancy new ride.
