kick off

This whole week I'm featuring the work and achievements of my very talented associates. To kick off crony week, here is an open letter to my best friend, the internets:

Dear Internet,

Thanks for hosting my little Art & Vanity blog. If it weren't for you, I'd have never made such an amazing webstie. Through your magic, 1,981 miles away feels like nothing. Fortunately I was able to meet up with her and solidify a long lasting bond carved in br
ass.

Thanks for again for being so awesome, internet.

Warmest Regards,
Melody

they finally meet:
If you felt a slight shock under your feet on Sunday, don't fret, that was just the earth having a little orgasm when Grace and I came together.

241.4016 km

We've got a big bike weekend planned, full of cheering, camping and schlepping around stuff. I'll be rooting for my boyfriend and his team's 150 mile charity ride for the National MS Society. Ben's ridding down to the Florida keys in 2 days, in honor of his Aunt Katie. If you'd like to support and donate to the cause visit here.

I was just duped big time.
My boyfriend just fed me a total crock of shit and I ate it gleefully. I never thought I was that gullible. We briefly paused on a Willie Nelson concert from PBS this evening. After admiring Willie's beautifully beaten up guitar, the bf doesn't skip a beat and begins telling me a story of how he met Mr. Nelson, and carved his initials into Willie's guitar. This was immediately followed by a "What? Really? I can't believe he'd let you sign it" (as I'm shocked yet excited to collect a cool random factoid to share with someone). He leads me on a bit, then waits until the camera focuses into a shot of said initials. Boom, the spotting of the B.C. engraving was met with high pitch squeals and even an ohmygod.

Turns out it was all a sham, I'm a big gullible baby and I need to not listen to a word my mister says.

Remedy for a chilly Wednesday night sans lover?
Sneak into your favorite hotel's spa.

Last weekend me and my 3 best ladies treated our selves to a lovely spa evening of steaming and shitchatting by a fire pit. I plan on remaking that magic tonight.

This year's Art Basel Miami came and went. I'm sad that it's all over. My brain is still processing the sensory overload. We had a great time prowling all over the city in search for good art, free drinks and exclusive parties. There was some amazing, some meh. and some atrociousness this weekend but all in all it was a whirlwind. I was pleased to see some favorite art pieces in person and meet/fall in love with Canadian artists Ziz & Gordy, my new Caesar drinking cohorts.
Here are a few camera phone snaps from this past weekend:

inspiration: hip grandparents

I'm so moved by this photograph of my boyfriend's grandparents. I framed and hung it on our picture wall yesterday, and I can't get it out of my mind. They look so cool and effortless. I love Nana's Mona Lisa grin and Grandpa's devilish smirk. I want to recreate this shot with our close friends.
Style wise this photo is killing it, I wouldn't mind owning a few inspired pieces:
Alexander McQueen Chunky Buckle Sweater & hand made cloche from yellowfielda yummy little Derringer cycle,
and incorporate a piece I already own and love:

the adorable bow leather driving gloves I am tempted to put on every single morning.
