unrequited love

Kathatina's work which I just spotted at for me, for you reminds me of the Spiel & Holz wooden puzzles I fell in love with while in Berlin.

It wasn't love at first sight but my appreciation for these beautiful handmade puzzles grew more in the few days I was in Germany. The idea of having to lug around a huge pointy ended wooden thing on my back while ridding around on cobble stone roads wasn't appealing. It wasn't until the last couple days of my stay that I felt compelled to bring one home with me. Then of course, as with all of my Murphy's blessed luck, the day I went back to the tiny children's boutique they were closed. Alas, I filled my suitcase with other treasures. Life went on.
I think these puzzles were resting dormant in my impulsive shopping frontal lobe because as soon as I scrolled through Katharina's body of work I felt an immediate need to search for these again. As I do with any item that tickles my fancy I completely justify it. These things are multitaskers: They can be displayed as an ever shifting wall adornmnet and then later be perfect for my far off into the future babies. I can even still consider it a travel momento. Ta-Dah.

I haven't picked one up yet but I'm gunning for the 16.5" geometric spiral seen above.

window shopping

Been doing a little online browsing this AM. Why is window shopping so satisfying? I love that the holidays are fast approaching so I can justify all the time I spend online filling up my fantasy shopping carts. I seriously agonize while I do it but I love it so much.
A few items I'm tempted to buy my buddies so far:
great packaging deadstock jump-rope
a little pee comes out cards
Titanic vs. Iceberg soaps
vegan treat samplers

apartment tour

I've been meaning to showcase my tiny apartment for a while now. Seeing that we'll most likely be moving, now's a better time than ever to share the little box with you guys. I absolutely adore our itty bitty 600sqft space. This is no selby feature but it'll have to do.

Here we have our bedroom with attached bathroom & balcony.
I think the tealtown chandelier curtains add some charm but my favorite part of this room is the family photo wall. Anytime I spot white frames I just have to pick a few up.

Although our building is is old and lacks any curb appeal-- our unit has been renovated. Sadly, the inner workings of the building are deteriorating and the pipeage is questionable. We don't want to potentially deal with an other flood. We've been living here for nearly a year and a half. That's a bit of a record for us-- we're always on the move.

Parker's business box

Josh Keyes; Drink
By way of convenience, sanitation and sheer laziness my bf built our Chi a balcony bathroom. Arguing over who would take her down to do business before bedtime and feet cleaning duties was getting old. On top of the fact that south beach is absolutely filthy and parasitic, she was attacked earlier this year by a rogue mutt. This super simple box has made all of our lives better. I recently stumbled upon a brand Doggy Duty that sells the same concept for urban dog owners except you can pick theirs up for a whopping $225! Ours in total, cost less than 40 bucks and it was made with love.
Here she is depositing her first pee. She acclimated quickly and now just does her stuff on command.
The box just requires some simple maintenance and grass up keep.
We need to remove the doo immediately (ofcourse) and water the freshly peed grass to prevent burning.

links

I've been a bit too preoccupied with apartment hunting to internets browse. I'm not very concerned though, my priority right now is finding a space made out of bread and covered in cakes.
