Neon; Ciao! 6 x 12"
Ok it's officially here... I'm off to Berlin for 11 days! I can finally quit the day dreaming and fake working. This vacay couldn't have come at a better time. I know I'll miss my sweet man partner and our chiwa child but it's always nice to get away. It's going to be difficult to update and I kinda want to disconnect from the internets anyways. I'll leave you guys with a few scheduled posting of my favorite pieces and some interesting travel photos.

I'm so preoccupied today. My mind is buzzing with daydreams of my much needed European escape. Kevin Hooyman's candy colored works are getting me even more thrilled and pumped to go on a journey.
This dolphin rider amongst rivery log cabins reminds me of the floss rafts me and my pal plan on renting in Germany:

Great Great Great and OK OK OK is a diptych of drawings inspired by positive psychology, the study of maximizing happiness. Happiness requires both optimism and acceptance—in other words, the capacity to respond to situations with "Great!" or "Okay." This diptych is made with glitter and neon pens, to reference discount store culture and the immediacy of modest ambitions.

A collage of some dream house elements:
this sunroom in it's entirety
+
Samlad stil citypärlan
these saddle leather chairs and gray walls
+
white floors and a family wall
+
a basement filled with modern bamboo furniture and not that guy
+
an absurd collection of art on the walls
+
this delicious jade bathroom
+and of course this ridiculous dressing room/closet
+
throw in a fancy dog painting & a window made of tequila bottles
and I'm all set.

That way I can blame my lack of timely productivity on sewing machines tangles and finger cramps rather than the gloriously distracting internet.
Jiseon Lee Isbara: Piercing fabric and life with thread and order
While on the topic of distractions and "working" I wanted to introduce you guys to my new favorite blog:
The title alone make fall in love with these frustrated desk jockeys.
Their tips and office musings are right up my alley.

I want to own this piece. I would willingly giveaway all my prints and wall junk for an epic painting like this.

Rob Sato, The Sleeping Pack, 2009
It's just one of those sleepy days for me. I wish I was laying down with these teenie cats.
I suggest checking out Rob's work and sketch books for some stimulation if you're as hazy as I am today.

no pin on Barcelona yet

If my future home doesn't have a conversation pit I want a Barcelona chair huddle.
I'm off to Europe in 8 days!!! While there me and pal Tiffany were thinking of heading to the Mediterranean. Flights from Berlin are a bit more expensive then we'd like to pay though. Instead of making a mini trip to Morocco, Greece or Spain it looks like we'll be taking it easy in RĂ¼gen Germany off the Baltic Sea. Not too shabby of an alternative if you ask me. As soon as I get back from Germany I want to plan my next escape to Barcelona. I'll take travel over a beautiful chair at this point.

I read about this show a couple weeks ago but I'm sure it will more enjoyable to see the work with out a hoard of star wars clad opening nighters standing around. I'm most excited to see Patchy's humongous Chewie [seen posed above]. I have been meaning to commission her to make Ben and I some custom dolls. Just one more thing on my long bespoke list.

"Iv Toshain is a young Bulgarian artist currently living and working in Vienna. Her series of recent drawings, paintings and photographs, take a pointed and ironic look at an environment that mirrors the social codes with stereotypes, consumerism, brain drain, power exertion, frivolity, material life and reflects them back to her audience, beautifully slick and glamorous, through a very dark mirror. These images, are layered with the underlying disturbances that occur in a culture that celebrates youth, achievements and worships physical attractiveness..."
I like the layered yet simple look of some of these. I would love to visit her solo show at Fleetwing Gallery Brooklyn.

I'm still yearning for a new pair of eyeglasses. I pretty much have my mind set on that bottom tortuous shell/clear pair by SEE. Although I'm really loving this pair by PRISM London called Rome in pale gray, I need to save up for my Berlin trip*. Looking at a computer screen all day is not good for my eyes or my bank account. I am always finding something new to fall in love with.
